The GoHighLevel pros and cons that real users raise are consistent: people like that one platform replaces several tools and that automation can run follow-up for them, and they struggle with the learning curve, usage-based costs, client onboarding and finding trustworthy help. We counted themes in 226 unique r/gohighlevel-feed posts from September 16 to October 16, 2026. Workflow and automation questions (36 posts) and AI, voice and AI Studio questions (27 posts) led the discussion; getting clients, integrations, client onboarding, overwhelm and the cheap-expert market followed. Below is what is liked, what is disliked, the counts, how we did it, and what we could not measure.

What do people like about GoHighLevel?

Positive posts are fewer than questions, and they cluster around a few things: replacing several tools, getting booked calls, and building a business on top of it. These titles are quoted as posted:

What users say (post title, r/gohighlevel)DateWhat it points to
"GHL allowed me to quit my 9-5 job in July"Oct 9, 2026Agency income as a draw; a personal claim we cannot verify
"From trying to figure it to 42 booked calls in 2 weeks using Instagram Funnel"Oct 11, 2026Funnel, calendar and follow-up in one account
"Just built this real estate landing page entirely inside GHL. Really happy with how it turned out"Oct 11, 2026The website and funnel builder as a replacement for a separate tool
"Unpopular GoHighLevel opinion: most complicated workflows are complicated because they were designed badly, not because GHL is complicated"Sep 17, 2026The tool is capable; design is the problem
"I built 50+ GoHighLevel workflows just to make an SMS feel local.."Oct 15, 2026Depth of automation available

The likes line up with what we see building accounts: one login for CRM, calendar, texting, email and workflows, and automation that responds in seconds. Our CRM implementation page shows what that looks like when it is built carefully.

What do people dislike or struggle with in GoHighLevel?

People mostly struggle with GoHighLevel's overwhelming setup, the real monthly cost of usage and AI, and handing accounts over to clients.

ThemeExample titles (as posted)Where we cover it
Overwhelm"GHL was sooo overwhelming" (Oct 5); "How do you get past the huge overwhelm of getting started with GHL?" (Sep 20)Setup guide
Real cost"Real monthly cost of Voice AI + chatbot on GHL for an SMB (inbound only)? Is 'Unlimited' really unlimited?" (Oct 16)Pricing guide, AI features
Hand-over and client mistakes"how do you stop clients breaking workflows after you hand over the sub-account?" (Sep 21)Support plans
Over-built templates"I think most HighLevel snapshots are overbuilt" (Oct 7)Snapshot import problems
Cheap, uneven help"The proliferation of $7, $8, $9, $10/hour high-level experts" (Oct 15)How to hire an expert
Email placement"How I fixed GoHighLevel marketing emails landing in Promotions by sending through Amazon SES" (Sep 24)Emails going to spam
Migration results"Same page, massive drop: Why did my conversion rate crash from 18% to 5% after moving from ClickFunnels 2.0 to GoHighLevel" (Sep 28)Comparison, migration
Hard to find clients"How to get clients? Am I even qualified to have clients?" (Oct 16); "Selling 2,500 - 3,500 packages not easy anymore" (Sep 25)Agencies

One title in the sample was a third-party warning: "simpletalk ai shut down (late sept), if your voice agent stopped working thats why" (Oct 5). A voice agent from another vendor, connected to a HighLevel account, stopped working. It is a reminder that parts of a GoHighLevel stack can belong to other companies.

What does this mean if you are deciding whether to use GoHighLevel?

If you are deciding on GoHighLevel, the product is rarely the complaint; the setup and the bill are, so get a scoped setup if you cannot learn it, and price the usage as well as the plan.

  • The product is rarely the complaint; the setup and the bill are. People like what it can do and struggle to get there. If you do not have a few days to learn it, get a scoped setup. Our free 30-minute call will tell you whether you need a build, a fix or nothing.
  • Price the usage, not the plan. The cost threads are about messages, minutes and AI. Use the worksheet in the cost guide.
  • Cheap help is a risk you can test. Ask for a live account, an Execution Log and a handover document before you pay anyone. See the checks in how to find and vet a GoHighLevel expert.
  • Plan for hand-over. If clients will edit workflows, set permissions and write down what each workflow does.

How we counted, and what this study cannot tell you

  • Data. 273 posts collected from the r/gohighlevel top and new RSS feeds and keyword searches; after removing duplicates and posts outside September 16 to October 16, 2026, 226 remained. 40 were for-hire, hiring or self-promotion posts and were left out of the theme counts, leaving 186.
  • Classification. By keyword match on the post title only. A post can match several themes, and 65 of the 186 matched none. We did not read comments, and the first lines of post bodies were not used.
  • Bias. One subreddit. Reddit users skew toward agencies and freelancers more than toward business owners who use GoHighLevel quietly. Counts show what people ask about, not how many are satisfied.
  • Review sites. Capterra hosts reviews of HighLevel, but the page returned an access error to our fetch, so we do not quote ratings or counts. Review blogs we saw were mostly affiliate pages and are not used as evidence.
  • Not statistics. This is a small observational sample. It is not a survey, it has no margin of error, and it should not be read as the share of all users who hold a view.

The raw theme table is kept with our project files, and we re-run the count when the sample ages. For the company's side of the story, see the HighLevel company profile.

Frequently asked questions about GoHighLevel pros and cons

What are the main pros of GoHighLevel?

One account for CRM, calendar, texting, email, funnels and workflows; automation that responds in seconds; and white label and SaaS options for agencies. Users in our sample praise the breadth and the booking results.

What are the main cons of GoHighLevel?

A steep learning curve, usage-based costs for messages, calls and AI, setup that goes wrong without a plan, and uneven quality among people selling setup. These are the themes that recur in the posts we counted.

Is GoHighLevel hard to learn?

Many users say GoHighLevel is hard to learn. The menus are deep because the platform does many jobs. Building one job at a time, and testing it in the Execution Logs, makes it manageable.

Is GoHighLevel expensive?

The plans start at $97 a month, and usage is billed on top. Users ask most about the real monthly total with AI and messaging. See the cost guide for the arithmetic.

Is GoHighLevel good for small businesses?

It suits businesses that will use several parts together. It can feel heavy if you only need one of them. The GoHighLevel vs HubSpot comparison covers the trade-offs.

Why do people complain about GoHighLevel support?

We did not measure support quality in this sample, so we cannot give a rate. Reviewers elsewhere raise it. If you need hands-on help, our support plans are monthly and scoped in writing.

Is this study a survey of GoHighLevel users?

No, it is a count of discussion themes in one community over 30 days, with the limits described above.
