The GoHighLevel HIPAA add-on costs $297 a month, according to HighLevel's pricing page, and HighLevel lists HIPAA compliance as included on its custom-priced Enterprise plan. For a clinic on the $97 Starter plan that makes the platform cost $394 a month before usage (texts, calls, email) and setup. The add-on enables a business associate agreement (BAA) and HIPAA safeguards in the platform; it does not make your clinic compliant on its own. This page puts the number in context: what the total monthly cost looks like, what the add-on does not cover, and when a clinic should not pay for it.
How much does the GoHighLevel HIPAA add-on cost?
The GoHighLevel HIPAA add-on costs $297 a month on top of the plan, so a single clinic on Starter pays $394 a month and an agency on Agency Pro pays $794.

|---|---|---|---|
| Single clinic | Starter $97 | $297 | $394 |

Our HIPAA guide, based on HighLevel's HIPAA help article (last modified June 11, 2026), says the add-on is bought by the agency, applies to all location accounts under it (each sub-account's HIPAA toggle is then switched on in Advanced Settings) and cannot be cancelled, refunded or removed once enabled. Read the HighLevel HIPAA article. Confirm the current terms with HighLevel before you quote a client. Our HIPAA guide explains the BAA and how it is enabled.

What does the HIPAA add-on not cover?
The HIPAA add-on does not cover your own compliance duties, what you put in messages, or other vendors connected to the account.
- Your own compliance duties. Policies, staff training, risk assessment and access controls are yours. A vendor safeguard is one part of that.
- What you put in messages. Texting protected health information is a decision you make, not a setting. See GoHighLevel for healthcare clinics.
- Other vendors. Any integration, AI voice provider or tool connected to the account needs its own review and agreement.
- Usage. Texts, calls and email are billed on top; see GoHighLevel SMS and email costs.
When does a clinic need the GoHighLevel HIPAA add-on?
A clinic needs the GoHighLevel HIPAA add-on and a signed BAA once intake forms, appointment reasons or treatment notes are stored in the CRM; for marketing leads, ask your counsel.
| Your use | Likely need |
|---|---|
| Marketing leads who are not yet patients (name, phone, interest) | Ask your counsel whether this is protected health information in your case. Often handled without the add-on, but get advice. |
| Intake forms with health details, appointment reasons or treatment notes stored in the CRM | The add-on and a signed BAA are the starting point. |
| Texting appointment reminders that mention a service | Depends on the wording and your policy. Many clinics keep texts generic. |
| Recording calls with patients | Treat as sensitive; review before enabling. |
This is general information, not legal advice. We are an implementation company, not a law firm. We build the workflows to your compliance policy; the decision about what counts as protected health information belongs to you and your counsel.
What is the total cost of a HIPAA-ready GoHighLevel build for a clinic?
Platform and add-on: $394 a month on Starter, as above. Our build for a single clinic follows the owner price ladder on the pricing page: basic and single-location implementation is $500 to $4,000 one-time, and the first call and audit are free. Compliance decisions are one of the factors that move a clinic's quote, and we price each build in writing. See GoHighLevel setup cost for what moves the price.
